This is an authentic Appalachian toy. We will start by painting Jack, then suspend him between two wooden sticks with thread hinges. When the sticks are squeezed, Jack does flips! This is a fun exercise to strengthen your grip. For ages 6 and up.

 
Quilt Block Hot Pads                          $20

Jackie Cupp

You will learn to sew a pair of Log Cabin quilt blocks and turn them into useful kitchen hot pads. We will use the “Quilt as You Go” method. Bring your sewing machine (with manual for threading and bobbin instructions}, scissors, and a seam ripper if you have one. All fabric and padding are included. This class will take a break at noon and continue at 1 P.M. to complete the project.

 

Blessing Ball                                       $15

Blessing balls have been recognized for hundreds of years as good luck charms to bring happiness and health to your home. Your handcrafted blessing ball will include many types of herbs with symbolic meanings that relate to health and happiness, as well as several crystals which are known to provide particular benefits.


Rustic Birdhouses                              $15

Learn how to gather natural materials to create interesting birdhouses, along with do’s and don’ts for attracting birds to them. Construction techniques will also be discussed.

 
Cornhusk Kitchen Witch                    $40

Anna Allen

Traditional folklore says every kitchen needs a witch. Anna will teach you the art of making a cornhusk witch to bring good luck to your kitchen. All materials will be furnished. The workshop will take a break for lunch, then continue.

For ages 11 and up.

 
Beginner Crochet                               $20

Christy Baer

Learn the basic crochet stitches while making a festive Christmas tree garland- perfect for holiday home décor. Crochet hooks and yarn will be provided.

 

Felting Basics                                      $15

Bootsie Robison

Both wet felting and needle felting will be explored. We will make a wet felted wool pad and set it aside to dry while we make a needle felted pin cushion. In addition to these projects students will take home a felting needle and dyed fiber for more felting at home.

Let’s Paint a Sunflower                     $20

Each participant will be given an 8 x 8-inch stretch canvas which will have the background done and a sunflower outline drawn on it. All that has to be done in class is the fun part- painting! Acrylic paints will be used, and step-by-step instructions provided. All materials are included.


Beaded Macramé Bracelet                $25

Carol Williams

The square knot macrame technique will be used to form the base of the bracelet. You will have a selection of semiprecious stones and macramé cord from which to choose to create a unique piece of jewelry.


Bucket Basket                                    $35

Sherry Love

This 8 x 10-inch round basket is great for a beginner weaver. You will learn to weave onto a wooden handle by twining the bottom. Basket sides will be the cut and tuck fashion. Enjoy the group setting as you create a functional basket that can be used in many ways-- serving bread at your table, gathering eggs, or embellishing your home.


Clay Oil Diffuser                                 $18

Essential oils are scientifically recognized as being beneficial to your health. One of the best ways to use the oils is to diffuse them, so you can breathe in the lovely aroma. Two diffusers will be crafted, and you will receive an essential oil to use with them.
